RBC Bank Food Drive Delivers 3,437 Pounds Of Help To Five Food Banks In Eastern North Carolina And Virginia

Raleigh, N.C. - October 24, 2011 – During the month of September, RBC Bank invited neighbors, clients and employees to bring non-perishable food items to banking centers in North Carolina and Virginia. The result – more than 3,437 pounds collected at 170 bank offices in North Carolina and Virginia.

Five food banks that serve communities across Eastern North Carolina and Tidewater Virginia received the collected food Oct. 19 and 20:

Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia (Serving Chesapeake, Norfolk & Virginia Beach) 627 lbs. 528 meals
Total: 3,437 lbs. 2,894 meals

“Our neighbors continue to need help in the aftermath of this natural disaster. RBC Bank is pleased to be able to deliver 3,437 pounds of food collected at more than 170 bank branches from as far west as Charlotte to help people and organizations in Eastern North Carolina and Tidewater Virginia,” said Reggie Davis, president of RBC Bank.

In addition to the month-long food drive, the bank is making total contributions of $17,500 to the NC Disaster Relief Fund, the American Red Cross of the Albemarle (serving North Carolina and Virginia), and Interfaith Community Outreach (serving the Outer Banks).

RBC Bank also recognized community volunteers, bank clients and employees instrumental in local hurricane recovery efforts and gave away 400 tickets to these individuals to attend one of two pre-season Carolina Hurricanes hockey games in September.
