RBC Bank Honors Excellence in Education with Tribute to Teachers

RBC Bank Accepting Nominations for Tribute to Teachers Awards Program Through October 16

Raleigh, N.C. - September 20, 2011 – RBC Bank’s Tribute to Teachers award program, now in its eighth year, supports and recognizes excellence in the classroom year-round. With the new school year underway, RBC Bank wants to remind students, parents and community members to nominate outstanding and deserving teachers in their communities for the next program awards.

The current fall nomination period ends October 16, and RBC Bank will announce 50 new Tribute to Teachers winners in December. Each of the winners will receive $500 to spend on classroom materials, and one lucky teacher will receive a $2,000 grand prize shopping spree to equip his or her classroom. By the end of this year, RBC Bank will have awarded a total of $54,000 to 100 teachers in the Southeast through the Tribute to Teachers program. RBC Bank has already awarded more than $154,000 to hundreds of teachers across the Southeast.

“RBC Bank’s Tribute to Teachers award program continues to recognize teachers who don’t quit when the bell rings,” said Reggie Davis, president of RBC Bank. “We are proud to honor and reward some of the top educators in the Southeast who dedicate their lives to teaching our children to be savvy consumers and community members.”

The spring Tribute to Teachers award program garnered over 2,200 nominations throughout the bank’s Southeastern footprint (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia), and RBC Bank expects even more for this fall nomination period.
