Birmingham Girls Enjoy Day at the Golf Course with LPGA Star Morgan Pressel

RBC Bank makes donations to Girls Golf and Morgan Pressel Foundation

Birmingham Ala. - September 13, 2011 – Women’s professional golf standout and Team RBC member Morgan Pressel hosted a golf clinic yesterday in partnership with RBC Bank and LPGA-USGA Girls Golf (Girls Golf) to provide local girls of Birmingham a chance to learn the sport from one of golf’s great young players.

Pressel, a Girls Golf alumna herself, put the youth program’s mission into action by teaching young girls a variety of aspects surrounding the sport including golf skills and lessons in various game techniques. As a passionate player and supporter of youth golf, Pressel also interacted with the girls in a special Q&A session.

Girls Golf provides opportunities for young girls to learn to play golf, build lasting friendships and experience competition in a fun, supportive environment, preparing them for a lifetime of enjoyment with the game. Girls are also learning values inherent to the game of golf, such as practice, respect, perseverance, and honesty, preparing them to meet challenges of today's world with confidence.

RBC Bank made a $1,000 contribution to the Girls Golf program in spirit of the day’s events and in support of the program’s mission to spread the sport of golf with young girls. In a special ceremony following Pressel’s clinic, RBC Bank also made a $2,500 donation to the Morgan Pressel Foundation to help fight breast cancer.

“We were happy to be a part of this event with Morgan and to help get young girls in the area involved in golf,” said Scott Stafford, regional president for RBC Bank. “It was a fun and educational day, and we were honored to cap it off by showing our support for a great program as well as helping Morgan’s foundation continue the fight against cancer.”
