Raleigh, N.C. – February 17, 2011 – RBC Bank recently contributed $1,500 to Mountain Bizworks, a nonprofit community development financial institution that helps small businesses start, grow and create jobs through lending, consulting and training. RBC Bank’s donation provides funds for training and consulting to the local businesses in the Asheville area.

“We are thrilled to partner with Mountain Bizworks as it provides support to local businesses in the Asheville area,” said Eddie Bradley, regional manager for RBC Bank. “Proper training, in addition to capital, helps entrepreneurs strengthen and build their businesses, which contributes to economic stabilization in our community.”

The training and consulting that RBC Bank is funding includes various programs on topics such as the eight week business planning course, business assessment and goal development, management tools, profit management, growth strategies, tactics for marketing and sales and how to use social media.

Mountain BizWorks serves both start-up and existing small businesses through small-business loans, consulting, and training. Since the organization was founded in 1989, it has served more than 6,000 entrepreneurs, assisted in the creation of over 1,300 locally-owned businesses and loaned more than $4 million.
