RBC Bank Names Technology and Operations Executive

Joseph Cooper Brings 30 Years Banking Experience to New Role

RALEIGH, N.C. – Oct. 7, 2009 – RBC Bank today announced the appointment of Joseph A. Cooper Jr. to senior vice president of Technology and Operations for RBC Bank. In this role, Cooper will be responsible for overseeing day to day back office operations as well as strategically aligning technology services and capabilities for both the company and its clients.

"Joe’s vast experience and expertise in the technology and operations functions make him a great leader for the bank," said Scott Custer, RBC Bank CEO.

Prior to joining RBC Bank, Cooper spent 15 years at First Citizens Bank and Trust in Raleigh, N.C., most recently as the executive vice president of Technology and Operations. Prior to his tenure with First Citizens, Cooper spent 16 years at Bank of America serving in a number of technology management roles.

"I am excited to be joining the RBC Bank team," said Cooper. "I look forward to working with the Technology and Operations groups to enhance the bank’s processes and systems and to ultimately provide a superior client experience."

Cooper graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He serves as chairman of the Wake Tech Community College Foundation. He will be based at RBC Bank’s corporate headquarters in Raleigh.
