Bank to give Hurricanes’ Jersey Ornaments to Fans at Canes Vs. Capitals Game

RALEIGH, N.C. – Dec. 3, 2008 – The first 10,000 fans to arrive at the Carolina Hurricanes game against the Washington Capitals on Dec. 7 will have something extra to cheer about. RBC Bank employees are giving away limited edition Christmas ornaments featuring the Hurricanes’ new black jersey.

“As the official bank of the Carolina Hurricanes, we wanted to give away something showcasing the team’s new uniform, a striking black jersey,” said Chris Bell, RBC Bank Triangle market executive. “With the holidays falling in the middle of the season, we thought fans would enjoy having a Hurricanes ornament for their tree or desk.”

During the Dec. 7 give-away, fans may find one of their ornaments autographed by team members or coaches, as 20 ornaments will be randomly mixed among the 10,000 given out at the RBC Center. Inside the ornament boxes fans will find information on how to apply for an RBC Bank credit card and how the bank’s credit card rewards program works. In fact, if you’re looking for more Hurricanes gear, RBC Bank rewards points can be redeemed for Hurricanes merchandise including autographed jerseys and VIP ticket packages to upcoming games. In addition, Canes fans can use their RBC Bank credit or debit cards to earn an all-access trip with the team to Atlanta to see the Hurricanes play the Atlanta Thrashers on Feb. 28, 2009. The RBC Rewards program is the only rewards program available for fans to get Canes gear and register for a unique team experience.

“We expect the ornaments to be a huge hit, so we urge everyone to come early to the Dec. 7 game,” said Kristen Doherty, vice president, Integrated Marketing Communications. “These ornaments are gifts from RBC Bank – they will not be available for sale later. So arriving early to cheer on the team is the only way to get an official Canes ornament.”

RBC Bank has made a practice of giving away premium items to fans to promote the bank’s partnership with the Hurricanes. Past items included checkbook covers, cups, hockey puck banks and posters of Hurricanes’ players. Tickets are on sale and may be purchased at the RBC Center box office or at
