RBC BANK EXECUTIVE APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF ECU BOARD OF VISITORS
Steve Jones to Lead His Alma Mater's Volunteer Advisory Group
RALEIGH, N.C. – July 30, 2008 – East Carolina University (ECU) recently appointed Steve Jones, RBC Bank
market president for the Carolinas and Virginia, as the chairman of the ECU Board of Visitors.
Jones took office July 1 and will serve as chairman until 2009. A Fayetteville native, Jones earned a bachelor’s
degree in finance from East Carolina University in 1991. He has served on the Board of Visitors since 2006 and
is a member of the East Carolina University Foundation.
“Being appointed chairman of the ECU Board of Visitors is a tremendous honor and is a great opportunity to
serve the university I love so much,” said Jones.
The Board of Visitors is a group of volunteers who assist the ECU Board of Trustees and the chancellor in a
range of activities including public relations, government relations and fundraising. The volunteers also serve as
ambassadors for the university in their communities, and, in turn, keep the chancellor and university
administration informed about what they are hearing about ECU.
“Steve’s hard work and dedication to his market make him a great leader for the bank and the community,” said
Scott Custer, RBC Bank chairman and CEO. “Steve has played an integral role in the growth of the bank. Since
his appointment of market president in 2006, RBC Bank has increased its market share and continues to be a
sound and stable financial institution.”
Jones lives in Raleigh with his wife, Terry, and their three children, Conner, Holden and Evan.
