RBC CENTURA EXPANDS EXECUTIVE'S RESPONSIBILITIES
Steve Jones to Oversee North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia
RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 1, 2007 - RBC Centura Bank today announced the promotion of Steve Jones as market president of the Carolinas and Virginia - where the bank does business. Jones previously served as market president for Eastern North Carolina and Virginia. He will assume the additional responsibility as Robin Lyle, current market president for Western North Carolina and South Carolina, retires at the end of October.
A Fayetteville, N.C., native, Jones will be accountable for building and leading a high performing sales team in retail, business, mortgage and commercial banking across North Carolina, the bank's largest market, as well as South Carolina and Virginia. He will be responsible for ensuring quality and driving results in the area and will coordinate opportunities to partner with RBC Centura sister companies, including RBC Centura Commercial Real Estate, RBC Builder Finance and RBC Dain Rauscher.
Adding Western North Carolina and South Carolina to Jones' territory is an 85-banking center and 600-employee increase to his previous responsibilities. He will now oversee 206 total banking centers and more than 1500 total employees. "I'm confident Steve's strong retail experience from his previous position as president of Personal and Business Banking combined with his solid leadership will be beneficial to managing his newly expanded region," said Drew Putt, RBC Centura president. "Since joining RBC Centura in 2000, Steve has proven to be a great leader, and we know that he will continue to be an important asset as our business grows."
Jones served in various positions over the past seven years at RBC Centura, including president of Personal and Business Banking when he was responsible for managing retail sales activities throughout the states where RBC Centura does business and overseeing RBC Centura Mortgage.
Jones earned a bachelor's degree in finance from East Carolina University. As someone who strongly believes in giving back to the community, Jones is a board member of the East Carolina University Foundation and a member of the East Carolina University Board of Visitors. He also serves as a board member of Donors Choose, a not-for-profit organization that provides resources for public schools, and he is active with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
Jones lives in Raleigh with his wife, Terry, and their three children, Conner, Holden and Evan. He will continue to be based in Raleigh, and his office will move to the RBC Plaza downtown Raleigh when it is completed next fall.
After serving RBC Centura for more than 15 years, Lyle will retire from his position as market president of Western North Carolina and South Carolina. Lyle served in a number of executive roles during his tenure with RBC Centura including president of Commercial Markets.
