Gary C. Klein to Lead Group; Oversee Operations

RALEIGH, N.C., September 17, 2007 - RBC Centura Bank recently announced the appointment of Gary C. Klein as market president in Florida. In this role, Klein will be accountable for building and leading a high performing sales team in retail, business, mortgage and commercial banking across the state. He will be responsible for driving results in a quickly growing area and will coordinate activities with RBC Centura Commercial Real Estate, Builder Finance and Dain Rauscher business leaders.

Since the bank opened in Florida just four and a half years ago, RBC Centura's presence has grown from 11 banking centers and 40 employees to 41 banking centers and more than 360 employees statewide.

Klein will oversee activities for RBC Centura's banking centers throughout Florida. He will work closely with the existing Florida leadership team - Rick Perez, regional president, Retail Banking; Scott Williams, regional president, Commercial Markets, South Florida; Roger Cook, regional president, Commercial Markets, Central Florida; and Cary Berman, regional manager, Mortgage - as well as business partners including RBC Dain, RBC Builder Finance, Commercial Real Estate, Public and Institutional Banking and Specialty Lending.

Prior to joining RBC Centura, Klein most recently served Wachovia as regional president for the Palm Beach County region. In this role, he was responsible for the corporate, commercial, retail and wealth management, and mortgage banking services.

A graduate of Susquehanna University, in Selinsgrove, Pa., Klein spent much of his professional career working in the Southeast. His community involvement includes serving as chair of the Palm Beach County AMA Heart Walk, the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce and the Palm Beach County Business Development Board. He also supports the South Florida Science Museum, serving as chairman on the board of trustees and serves on the West Palm Beach Workforce Housing Commission.

Klein is a native of Richmond, Va. He currently lives in West Palm Beach, Fla., and will be based at RBC Centura's Florida headquarters office in Orlando, Fla.
