Kevin McNamara to oversee both business and retail strategies

RALEIGH, N.C., August 21, 2007 - RBC Centura Bank recently announced Kevin McNamara as head of Business and Retail Banking Strategy, adding retail responsibilities to McNamara's former position leading the bank's business banking strategy exclusively.

"Under Kevin's leadership, we have built a solid foundation to achieve our business banking goals," said Ron Day, RBC Centura chief operating officer. "As part of our ongoing efforts to improve service to our customers and enhance our retail capabilities, I'm pleased to announce Kevin's expanded role, which now includes retail responsibilities. Based on his past successes and passion for our business, I'm confident in Kevin's ability to position us for great customer service and future growth in both business and retail banking."

In this new role, McNamara will focus on enhancing and bridging RBC Centura's Business and Retail Banking strategies and will have overall responsibility for the bank's business and retail banking platforms, including service delivery, product offerings, retail real estate, training and development, and overall capabilities.

Since joining RBC Centura in 1996, McNamara has served the bank in many capacities including as regional president of commercial markets in Florida and regional president for Eastern North Carolina and Virginia. He started his banking career with Wachovia.

A Raleigh, N.C., native, McNamara is active in the local community. He has served on the boards of the North Carolina State University College of Management, the South Eastern American Lung Association, as chairman, and the Risk Management Association. He is also involved with the YMCA and its We Build People campaigns.
